Zircon Refractories
Zircon Refractories - High-Performance Materials for Molten Metal, Glass, and Extreme Temperatures
Vitcas® Zircon Refractories, based on Zirconium Silicate (ZrSiO₄), are engineered for use in some of the harshest industrial environments. These advanced materials offer exceptional resistance to molten metals, glass, slags, and fluxes, along with outstanding thermal shock resistance and low thermal expansion. Suitable for use in both oxidising and reducing atmospheres, they maintain structural integrity and performance across a wide range of high-temperature conditions, with protection up to 1750°C / 3180°F.
Vitcas® Zircon Refractory Materials Range Includes:
-
Zircon Ram - Semi-dry ramming mix ideal for ladles, launders, and behind glass tank linings
-
Zircon Patch - High-strength, chemically bonded patching material for hot and cold repairs of crowns and superstructures
-
Zircon Paint - Brush- or spray-applied coating for sealing and protecting ceramic fibre linings from dust and degradation
-
Zircon Rapid - Fast-setting, high-strength repair material used in investment casting shells and element bedding
-
Zircon Coil Plaster Castable - Hydraulic-setting coil plaster for protecting induction furnace coils from metal penetration
-
Zircon-Based Monolithic Refractories - For direct contact with molten aluminium, steel, and chemically aggressive slags
These zircon materials are used in both new installations and repair applications, providing chemically inert, dimensionally stable linings and coatings that resist corundum build-up, extend service life, and improve operational efficiency.
Typical Applications:
-
Aluminium industry - Launders, ladles, induction furnace coils, and molten alloy contact areas
