Zircon Ram & Patch
Zircon Refractory Ramming and Patching Mixes
Zircon Ram is a semi-dry, zircon-based refractory ramming mix with an approximate moisture content of 5%. Designed for installation via pneumatic ramming or vibration, it offers excellent resistance to molten metals, aggressive slags, and molten glass. Its low porosity and high chemical stability make it ideal for applications requiring strong thermal shock and corrosion resistance.
Examples of Applications: Commonly used in the foundry industry for lining ladles and launders. In the glass industry, Zircon Ram is applied behind firebrick linings in tank furnaces and furnace bottoms to enhance insulation and durability in direct contact with molten glass.
Zircon Patch is a high-strength, chemically bonded refractory patching compound with a higher moisture content, suitable for both hot and cold repairs. It is ideal for maintenance and emergency patching of existing refractory linings, particularly those made of silica, alumina, or zircon.
Examples of Applications: Used for repairing crowns and superstructures in glass furnaces, and for restoring the integrity of worn or damaged refractory linings in high-temperature, chemically aggressive environments.
