Zircon Paint Coating

A Zircon rich refractory coating. Zircon has a good resistance to the alkalis in molten glass and in metal slags. It is particularly effective in contact with aluminium alloys and can be applied to refractory bricks and alumina-silicate monolithic linings with equally good results. In the aluminium foundry industry due to the non wetting properties, skulls are not formed as frequently and when they do form they are easily removed between heats. There is also

some evidence that zircon helps with corundum build up. Maximum service temperature 1700°C /3090°F

Examples of Applications:

• For application on ladles, furnaces and launders handling molten alloys.

• For glass contact applications.

• To seal and protect ceramic fibre linings and avoid the release of ceramic fibres into the workplace.

Supplied ready mixed or in powder form for mixing with water. It can be brush coated or sprayed.

If thinned with water it can be applied directly to warm refractories.

If flame impingement is expected use Zircon Paint Coating Powder. Zircon Paint Powder forms an organic bond when mixed with water.

Rope Seal for Stoves

Air-controlled appliances must have a way to reduce leaks into the firebox so that the only air entering the stove or firebox is through the air control. There are some older stoves that have fitted ground cast iron "gaskets" that seal well enough without rope seal, but almost all modern wood stoves need gasket material around the loading doors for sealing. Some ash pan doors have such gaskets too.
